MINUS


Returns a number after subtracting one number from another number

Syntax:

MINUS(numberOne, numberTwo)


MINUS subtracts numberTwo from numberOne returning the result.


Example:

If numberOne contains 2 and numberTwo contains 1:

MINUS(2, 1)

returns 1


A1 is numberOne and A2 is numberTwo.

Application:

Let's say you have a monthly budget for groceries and you want to know how much money you have left after a shopping trip. The MINUS function would be used to subtract the amount you spent from your total budget.


Scenario:

You have a monthly grocery budget of $500. After your first shopping trip of the month, you spent $125. You want to calculate your remaining budget.
